STUDY ABROAD: 

For six months, beginning from 01.02.1994, in the city of Aalst (Belgium) at the “Onze Lieve Vrouwe Ziekenhuis” Hospital, Cardio Vascular Surgery Department, he actively conducted his duties as a specialist. These duties involved cardiac transplantation, aortic aneurysm, mitral repair, arrhythmia surgery and coronary revascularization with arterial grafts..

For another six months, beginning from 01.03.1996, in USA’s Alabama University Cardiac Surgery Clinic, he worked as “special postgraduate fellow” staff with Dr. A.D. Pacifico and Dr. J. Kirklin.

For a month beginning from 05.09.1996, he worked at New York Columbia Presbyterian University Adult and Congenital Cardiac Surgery Clinics and joined in two separate training programs on left ventricle assist devices.

In August 1998, he conducted studies about pediatric cardiac surgery department in Great Harmond Street Hospital, London for a month.

In 1999 he attended a workshop about “coronary bypass in beating heart“ at La pitie Hospital in Paris.

In 1999 he observed pediatric heart surgeries in Paris Marie Lannelongue Hospital.

In 2001 he took a training on coronary bypass in beating heart in Holland,  Sn. Antonius Hospital.

In 2007, he observed pediatric cardiac surgeries at Giessen University in Germany.

In 2009 he participated in a training on “minimally invasive mitral repair“ from Dr. Glauber and his team at Pasquinucci Hospital in Italy, Massa

In 2012 at Washington Children's Hospital he conducted studies in pediatric cardiac surgeries.

DUTIES : 

General Practitioner:1984-1986 completed mandatory service in Bitlis, Turkey

Assistant Doctor: In 1986, he commenced his residency in cardiovascular surgery in Istanbul University, Cardiology Institute, Cardiovascular Surgery Department.

Specialist: In 1992 with his study titled “Myocardial protection with antegrade/retrograde continuous oxygenated warm blood cardioplegia” he became Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist. Then he started working as a specialist at Istanbul University, Cardiology Institute, Cardiovascular Surgery Department and Florance Nightingale Hospital simultaneously.

Assitant Professor: In July 1993 he was assigned to assistant professor in Istanbul University cardiology Institute, Cardiovascular Surgery Department.

Associate Professor: He passed his associate professorship exam successfully thus became an associate professor in 17.10.1995. He continued working as an associate professor in Istanbul University, Cardiology Institute, Cardiovascular Surgery Department until the year 2000.

Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery Department (TDV 29 Mayis Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery Department 2000-2001): In 24.01.2000 he resigned from his duties at the University and established a new cardiovascular surgery clinic with his team in TDV 29 Mayis Hospital in Istanbul and  performed about 750 pediatric and adult cardiac surgeries.

Chief, Cardiovascular Surgery Department (Siyami Ersek Hospital: 2002-2008): Because of the Ministry of Health’s need in the field of pediatric cardiac surgery, he was assigned as Chief of Clinic at Siyami Ersek Hospital in 12.03.2002. In this hospital he set up both neonatal and infant cardiac surgery. He routinely operated wide spectrum of adult cardiac patients. He was also assigned as the Chief of Cardiac Transplantation team.

Clinic Director (Medicana Çamlica Hospital: 2002-2003 and 2005-2009): Pediatric and adult cardiac surgery programs of this hospital conducted intensively by him in two periods.

Professor (Yeditepe University: 2005-2007): In 07.01.2005 he was assigned to Yeditepe University. In June 2005, he achieved the title “Professor” and continued his duties as chief of Clinic at Siyami Ersek Hospital and Yeditepe University simultaneously.

Clinic Director (Medicana International Istanbul Hospital: 2008-Today): In February 2008, he departed from his job at Siyami Ersek Hospital and took charge as the “Director of Cardiovascular Surgery deparment” at the Medicana Çamlica and Medicana International Hospital Istanbul. Currently he is the head of cardiovascular surgery department at Medicana International Hospital Istanbul. His annual volume of surgery is about 500-600 patients that equally divided both adult and pediatric.

Oversees assignment (Republic of Yemen March 2009): In March 2009, he was assigned on a mission by the Ministry of Health. Being appointed as the head of cardiac surgery team, he went to the Republic of Yemen and there he executed the most needed pediatric heart surgeries.
